(Galatians 5:22-23, Romans 8)
Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faiths, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
They are called the fruits of the Spirit. FRUITS
We all know that fruits grow from seeds. Fruits of the Spirit can only grow from the Spirit.
Romans 8:1 says, There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
There has to be the Spirit who is the Holy Spirit on the throne of our hearts. When He is on the throne of our hearts, our life will be the manifestation of the nature of Jesus our Lord
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Joh 15:26 KJV But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
Even if we speak in tougue genuinely but our life bear fruits different from love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against which there is no law, then there is a need to approach the Lord. Let us go to the foot of the cross where Jesus died for the wretchedness of our flesh. There we will find help from His death and resurrection.
The righteousness the Holy Spirit demands from us is not that which we learn and act because no matter what we learn to act, it is the fruits of what lives in our heart that will be manifested.
Gal 5:18-21 KJV
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Now, it may seem easy for some to want to watch against all these but remember what this passage of God’s word says, “But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law”. The righteousness from the flesh is just an act. Something learned and acted out whereas the righteousness from the Holy Spirit having His place in us is we leaving out the righteousness of Christ. It is a manifestation, not an act. The difference is like a man who understands that fornication and adultery are sins and he is not doing them. But is his heart indeed free from fornication and adultery? Remember what Jesus said, “(Matthew 5:28) But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart”. If he still “lusts after her in his heart”, he is not yet in the liberty that Christ gives, even if he is not physically committing adultery with her. If one sees someone and your mind first feels irritated or angry before one quickly controls it, then you are still under the bondage of that particular sin (maybe anger, unforgiveness, etc). Until you see someone like that and the first burst of thought in you is either nothing or joy and peace of the Lord that you are in the liberty Jesus gives from the bondage of such sin.
This shows us the role of fervent prayers in our fulfillment of God’s instruction. Praying away our sins and not just reading and acting. But to pray for the Holy Spirit to indeed be on the throne, in the center of your heart. Pray that who decides to live for Christ in you will not just be you on the throne but it will be Jesus on the throne, in the center of your heart – living out Himself. Then the fruits we will manifest will be his and the fruits people see in us will be the same with that which God sees in us.
Shall we now pray that oh Lord, “come and live in me that doing Your will not just be what I act but what You live out through me” in Jesus name
Prayer Points
1) Lord open my eyes to see, my ears to hear, and my heart to know what you want me to know, in Jesus name.
2) Jesus, come, be on the throne at the center of my heart.
3) Jesus grant me the liberty You give from the bondage of the wretchedness of sins.
4) Holy, (sing: I have no power of my own, I have no power of my own, Holy Spirit, I look up to You help me. I have no power of my own) deliver me from walking according to the bidding of my flesh, in Jesus name.
5) Jesus be glorified in my life. Let the manifestation of who You are be the reason and reality of my existence in Jesus name.
