(Psalms 131, Deuteronomy 8:18, 1 Timothy 6:10, Matthew 16:26, Proverbs 22:29, Matthew 6:22)
The love of money is subtle and yet all-consuming. It usually seems like being ambitious but will only fails integrity test if you ask, …being ambitious for what? It makes you become pursuer of money than God. If there is anything you want to live for, you make it revolve around money. It makes you compromise, maybe a little, as you think, just because it means more money to your purse. The content of your bank accounts usually have the on or off effect on you ie either it inflates your mood or deflates it.
1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Please note the ROOT OF ALL is not money ITSELF but the LOVE of money, as many usually misquote this from the Bible. The love human beings have towards money which means their attachment to money is usually displayed by how we address money related issues.
Those who kills to get rich, those who backstab to have more positions that brings in more money, those who fornicates to get money etc mostly did not think of that kind of evil life in their earliest years on earth but their ruthless drive to have money moves them towards that regrettable path of life.
If you only realize God’s mercy and wonders when you are financially stable, you must watch your life to be sure if the love of money is not greater now in you than the love of Jesus. If you rely on the availability or unavailability of money before you can do anything you must watch yourself if the love of money has not set in. Peter loved Jesus but money availablity is dear to him. He lived being able to source for money himself than relying on God to provide. Same reason the Lord have to bring him back from erring when he asked him, “Simon the son of Jona, do you love me more than this”, John 21:15.
The love of money mostly goes with the love of what money can buy, what money can do and what money can make you achieve. For this reason and many others it make the availability of money always not enough.
The love of money is the root of all evil. If you are obsessed with it, it can never seem sufficient. And you subconsciously continue to seek for more of it at the expense of God’s love, will, good intents and others.
Flee from the love of money. If you will do all things as unto the Lord you will be blessed with money from God. If you will be diligent in your works you will have money. If you will put your mind on Jesus and not the money you will prosper. If you will allow God’s gift in you to manifest money will locate you. It will serve you instead of you to serve it. You will not have to bow to money. Moreso, you will not have to bow to the devil, worship him or let him manipulate you before being blessed with money. Remember the kind of taste you get from sugar may seem like honey but they are never in the same category, that is how getting rich through (loving money) bowing to the devil is compared to being faithful to God being rich. And only God gives properity
Ecclesiastes 6:2 A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease
The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it
1) May the devil’s deceit and manipulation targeted against me and my home become fruitless, in Jesus name.
2) May my hope not be in money but only in Jesus Christ and His righteousness.
3) Lord, give me Your Spirit that I will not be obsessed with money, in Jesus name.
4) The abundance or lack of money as a camouflage for the love of money has made many to sway from the faith. Through this they have abandoned their divine mandate in its pursuits. Power of redemption bring all back to Jesus.
5) The grace of the Lord Jesus to flee from the love of money come into me in Jesus name.
