(2 Peter 1:2-9, Philippians 4:19, Daniel 9:2-3)
If parents allot great possession to a child but the child does not know that such is done for him, He will still live like one who does not have such possession. If a parent spend the whole of his life gathering possession for his children but the children do not have the knowledge of the availability of such possession, the children will still live like those who lack.
We as the children of God Almighty, our inheritance in Him is as limitless as our God Himself. Nonetheless, our manifesting it can be as limited as our knowledge of God. Many are those things our Father in heaven has in store for us, which have been prepared and made ready for us but we do not have the knowledge that such is for us or should even belong to us. The knowledge about all the riches of our Father in heaven is hidden in His word – the Bible. There are uncountable great promises which He made for us, even with Him swearing about the certainty of fulfilling them.
(Philippians 4:19) But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Yes, we pray to ask for our blessings from God but which blessings (Like asking for what one knows little or nothing about)? How about how to ask for such (asking without enough knowledge of how to ask)? What must we have done for such blessing to be released to us? However, it is what we are aware of that we are going to ask for. Only when we have full knowledge that something should belong to us that we will really ask properly for it like someone who means receiving it. If we know something should be ours but we do not have full knowledge of how it should really be ours, we may be seeking for such as a privilege and not as inheritance. We may be asking fervently for something, yet ignoring and neglecting many responsibilities we should have carried out before such can be given to us.
The suffering in captivity was not enough for Daniel to really cry for the Hebrews’ salvation. Until Daniel came to the understanding (knowledge), by the reading of God’s word that their time in slavery (captivity) was over-spent before he could bring the issue before God (Daniel 9:2-3). He came to the understanding that their captivity should be ending with their enemies paying for the evil done, then a fire of fervent prayers was kindled in him which only answers from God could satisfy.
The Holy Spirit is also guiding us into second epistle of Peter chapter 1 for some great peculiarities of growing in the knowledge of God.
2 Peter 1:2, Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
Here, the word of God is revealing to us that it is through the knowledge of God that grace and peace can be multiplied to us. More promises like this lie in the unfailing word of God which He has exhaulted even more than His name (Psalms 138:2).
Verse 3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
In verse 3, word of God reveals how our Father in heaven, by His divine power, has given all things to us pertaining to life (as regards our needs as human beings) and godliness (as regards our spiritual needs). Is this not great? However, it is through the knowledge of Him that called us by the virtue of His glory and virtue. This proceeds to verse four (please mark the connecting word that starts verse four, in king James version of the Bible it reads “whereby” )
Verse 4  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
This means, by this again, we receive EXCEEDING GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES. These are great inheritance that will make us partakers of the divine nature of our heavenly Father like sons and daughters of the most high God.
In this growing lies our possessing our birthright as children of the most high God and manifesting our inheritance as heirs and heiress. By having more knowledge about what is our portion in God, prepares us for the manifestation of the goodness of God in fullness.
If we grow in the knowledge of God we shall not fall (2 Peter 2:10). The beginning of falling is not GROWING in the knowledge of God.
Prayers that are borne out of the knowledge in the word of God are prayers of authority which carries great power.
Read more of God, dwell more in His word and discover where and how your inheritance is hidden and achievable (2 Peter 1:2-9).
ONLY BY GROWING IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD.
There are some ways of not growing in the knowledge of God :
1) Not reading His word,
2) Reading but not living the word of God,
3) Reading to antagonise, which is same as damnation.
