Proverbs 3:6-8
6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.
7 Be not wise in your own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
8 It shall be health to your body, and strength to your bones.
Please this is a great warning, “do not let the possession and manifestation of talent make you to turn to evil.” Turning to evil because of these two reasons is yielding to the voice of the devil who tries all he could do to lure people into such. Beware of these, they are devil’s traps (2 Timothy 2:19-21).
Proverbs 3:9 Honor the LORD with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase
So now please it is important we know that as you acknowledge God for your talent, you should also honour Him with the fruits that your talents bear. Be it material things, fame or opportunities.
Moreover, do not be envious of another person’s talent. This is dangerous for your well being. It is a distractor and a slow and silent killer that can keep you from pursuing your destiny. Please, if you are nurturing that (envy) about another person’s talent, drop it, ask for forgiveness, focus on yours and pursue it.
Keep yourself away from whatever can make God regret ever blessing you with the talent. Misuse and abuse can cause chaos and “accident” for the carrier of the talent .
Talent took Joseph to the palace but he was not specifically positioned there to keep interpreting dreams for Pharaoh. What must have kept him in Pharaoh’s palace? His good virtue! His integrity. His stedfastness. I am sure that Pharaoh would hear about Joseph’s industriousness and integrity in Portiphar’s house and in the prison yard, if he did not hear of his good behaviour in his father house.
Bible also revealed how he faithfully served in his position of fulfilment.
So, improving on your talents and good virtues is not negotiable and need to be treated so. They are “ingredients” for your greatness.
