(John 20:24-29, Luke 24:39-43, Romans 6:9, Revelations 1:18, Hebrews 7:23-26)
He is not referred to as late Jesus. This is not just because of our reverence to Him. It is not like it was so as honour, it was so because He is alive. Yes, He died but He arose from dead, same as saying He woke up from dead and never died again. When He arose, He did so not like a spirit but as a full bodied one. The body laid in the tomb was no more seen in the tomb and only the cloth used to wrap Him was left. Why is He now able to manifest like spirit? Because He is the Lord of all (of all principalities and powers). Even when He was alive He manifested this by walking on the storm, when the disciples were sore afraid of seeing a spirit He said, “it is I”. So, our Lord Jesus ascended in this body of His, as the Lord of all.
Most times, we Christians relate with Jesus as if we relate with the Lord who is not so real. We confess that Jesus is with us but we are still confused about how possible this is. We might think, “but I am not seeing anything I can lay hold on as (tangible) evidence that Jesus is with me”. This was the same mindset Thomas had about the Lord in John 20:
24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
26 And after eight days again his disciples were inside, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27 Then said he to Thomas, Reach here your finger, and behold my hands; and reach here your hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29 Jesus said unto him, Thomas, because you have seen me, you have believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
He rebuke such mindset in two people along the way to Emmaus and again when He appeared to His disciples. May he rebuke this mindset in us too and open our understanding to see Him truly as the Lord of all.
In Luke 24:
39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones, as you see me have.
40 And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet.
41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have you here any food?
42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and a honeycomb.
43 And he took it, and did eat before the
Can we start relating with Jesus our Lord as the Lord of all that He is? Please let us do. When He says, “I am with you”, truly He is with us. Either we see Him or not, please remember, “the just shall live by faith. Without faith no one can please Him. Let us make this confession in His authourity, “Jesus, my Lord and my God, even if I can’t see you, I know you are right here with me. I know you are calming the storm. I know you are making me strong. My anchor will not be removed because you are holding it in place.”
Only sin can keep Him away from us. The Bible says he behold the proud from afar of. When we have separated from sin, confessed and repented (never to go back into our sins), then He is back with us.
When Jesus was on earth as man, He only travelled to certain places but now that He is in glory He is everywhere at the same time and all the time. As He is there at the right side of the Father mediating for us, He is also with you, as He is with all believers.
… and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen (Matthew 28:20)
Please beloved, do not let us relate with Jesus as that spirit that cannot feel what we feel as we feel it. So as to conquer this particular mindset He left His glory in heaven and humbled himself to live as one of us.
So, please talk to Him, as to the Lord, as to a Friend who is in you, with you and in heaven mediating for you (and preparing a heavenly home for you).
Jesus is alive because He rose from death (Romans 6:9, Revelations 1:18). We must live in this reality.
23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not allowed to continue by reason of death:
24 But this man, because he continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood.
25 Therefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever lives to make intercession for them.
26 For such a high priest was befitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
1) Lord open my understanding to understand the scripture (Luke 24:25).
2) Lord, I pray for your full presence in my home, work and life, in Jesus name.
3) Lord Jesus, release the grace to see you in all things on me, as the psalmist saw you in all things.
4) Lord Jesus, let Your power of resurrection work Your wonders in my life.
5) My Lord, let me always see the eyes of your compassion, in Jesus name.
